Gary Napolitano Talks About RMS Tap Panels CED 2006

RMS Communications, Inc., has announced an upgraded version of the RMS 1 GHz Plus Modular Multi-Tap for multi-dwelling unit (MDU) cable installations.

"If customer passive electronic requirements fall between 500 MHz to 1 GHz, our new Modular Multi-Tap is very appropriate, with strong engineering specs that sweep to 1.2 GHz," said Gary Napolitano, president of RMS, in a statement.

Another special feature of the tap is the user's choice of tap values. "Customers can choose what dB value they want in their system design," said Napolitano. "For example, the customer can select to have a 14, 25 and 29 dB tap value in the same Modular Multi-Tap unit, and we will build it like that for them."

The dB value is color-coded, so that the operator can tell at a glance the value of that portion of the multi-tap. The port design is also unique, in that RMS Electronics does not use the common male/female connection (F connection) to link units, but instead, makes a direct connection between each unit. One of the multi-taps can serve an entire 48-unit apartment building, according to information released by the company.

The latest upgrade to this highly popular product includes a choice of rigid mounting plates that offer the possibility of running cabinet wiring behind the unit.

Power Spy Recognized In Communication Technology

RMS's Power Spy Monitor LED is one of those gadgets that's in the category "Why didn't someone think of that before?" The Power Spy Monitor LED is a 5/8-24 port plug with a red light emitting diode (LED) and spring-loaded center conductor contact. Replace a conventional 5/8-24 port plug on line passives or actives with one of these, and you can see at a glance from the street whether power is present. Neat!
